Baby Naming

An early ultrasound says there’s a 75% chance that we’re having another girl in March and baby naming is a subject of much discussion around the WyRobot household. Middle names are much easier for us, but first names are a bit more challenging. We like unisex names, southern names, names of strong women characters and admittedly pop culture names that we grew up with or at least I grew up with.

For full disclosure, these are the first names that I really love, but we just couldn’t find enough common ground to move forward with:

Samantha: I always wanted to call my daughter, “Sam” like the character in Sixteen Candles
Ripley: Like Sigourney Weaver’s character in Alien
Juliet

First Names

Natalie
Penny
Violet:
Finley
Riley
Dylan
Kara: Like Kara Thrace from BSG
Shelby
Julia
Ellie: Jodie Foster’s character in contact

Middle Names

Harper: Like Harper Lee
Dylan: Like Bob and Thomas
Parker: Like Posey or Peter

You won’t change our mind, but we love the discussion so opinions are welcome.

New blog? Oh, and you need to bring me up to speed on this "H1N1" conversation I've heard so much about.

Ah, I see now that it isn't a new blog.

By the way, you forgot to add "Like Posey or Peter, or Panza" for "Parker".

Your Parker is one of my favorite names in the world, so Panza ranks much higher than Posey, but Peter? Now that's Spiderman.

Did I ever mention that I went to college with Parker Posey?

You went to college with Parker Posey!?

Peter, at least you've given Parsley a rest. I was getting an ulcer over that one.

Lara: I did. We went to SUNY Purchase together (which is where Tony L teaches now). As a matter of fact, when I was there, there were a lot of (now) famous people there, or just graduating.

    Parsley?

Oh by the way, since you're on the TV link thing, "Penny" is the name of one of the girls in "Lost in Space" and of course Hume's love in "Lost" (but of course you knew that).

"Shelby" is Julia Robert's name in "Steel Magnolias"
